'Pig Heart Boy'

Inspired by the book 'Pig Heart Boy' by Malorie Blackman, we took our learning in year 6 a step further this week when we dissected pigs' hearts. We identified different parts and used the technical vocabulary we have been learning as we tried to follow the route that blood takes each time the heart pumps. We spotted the four chambers, known as ventricles and atria, the septum that divides the heart into two halves and even found the aorta at the top! Well done, year 6!
