Class 10 - Ernest Shackleton
The children in Class 10 have been studying the incredible voyage of Ernest Shackleton. They thought carefully about the remarkable perseverance and leadership he demonstrated in his 1914 Antarctic expedition and some of the unimaginably tough decisions he made to ensure the safety of his loyal crew.
The children wrote as Shackleton himself, advertising for a suitably committed team to join him on 'Endurance.'
Then, they wrote their own stories to describe the treacherous conditions when the ship became stranded and Shackleton had no choice but to make a dash for Elephant Island, a remote island on the Antarctic Peninsula.
