EYFS 'How does your garden grow?'
This term the learning in EYFS has been based on the theme “How does your garden grow?” with the children learning about fruit, vegetables, plants and animal life cycles. Last week they read ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle and learnt about symmetry, doubling numbers, counting to 100 and the life cycle of a butterfly. It also provided the opportunity to work on other skills such as the fine motor skills of threading and weaving, planting seeds and watching them grow, problem solving and team work skills by making dens to protect them in Forest School, working with their friends to achieve the goal of a shelter which will keep them dry in the rain and is large enough for all the group to fit into. The children even got to taste some unusual fruit that they may never have tried before!
