Message from the Federation Headteacher
Hello and thank you for your interest in Cledford Primary School
A little bit about me!
I have been teaching since 1984, beginning my career in Wythenshawe. I achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) in 2005, and have been a headteacher for 12 years. Cledford is my second headship and I love working with this school community, where I think there is a very special band of staff, pupils, parents and governors.
I am passionate about children reaching their full potential and ask staff to meet with a senior leader every 6 weeks to discuss every child's progress. I am an English graduate and a reading specialist and am keen to ensure that every child becomes an effective reader as quickly as possible when they join Cledford Primary School. I know my own life would be much duller without a love of literature!
I have introduced 'character education', ‘growth mind-set' and 'SUMO' to the Cledford Primary School curriculum because I think emotional intelligence is just as important as skills development and academic success. (You can find more details in the 'additional information' document.)
I am a keen sports woman and believe in the value of exercise and the outdoors for learning and well-being. I own a 16h chestnut thoroughbred horse and an enthusiastic Labrador who is a trained therapy dog; together they help keep me energised and happy with life! Staff at Cledford provide lots of outdoor learning opportunities, including a 'Forest Schools' approach, led by a trained practitioner. You can see more information on the 'Forest Schools' page.
I am very proud of Cledford Primary School and would welcome the opportunity to show you around and let you see everything we can offer your child.
Mrs AJ Booth
